LBKA Members in action!

Senior Members

LBKA's syllabus encompasses multiple martial art styles. Students must be proficient in multiple areas including mat work, grappling, sparring, throws and kata amongst other areas. Students at LBKA are some of the most well rounded martial artists in the industry and can easily adapt to any situation.

Doncaster Dojo

Students in Doncaster training hard, practising self defences, fitness exercises and kata. Students at Doncaster have a strong bond with each other and social interaction with each other is encouraged through games, group activities and partnered drills

Mount Waverley Dojo

To be the best martial artists students must have strong focus. This enables the student to concentrate on the task at hand and improve their technique. This also helps the students in the school room and at home.

LBKA Kata

Kata forms a key part of LBKA's syllabus. Kata is a set of pre-determined sequences made up of self defences, blocks, strikes, stances and kicks. Its is an excellent way for students to improve. Students need to be able focus on breathing, technique and not be distracted by their surroundings.

Shihan David Snell

Shihan David Snell recently was graded by his peers from different karate schools across Melbourne. This involved multiple weapons displays, kata and a demonstration of the Academy's syllabus.

Grading day - 21st July 2011 - Report PDF Print E-mail

Thursday 21st of July saw two new Sempais join the ranks. Sempai Peter Brimelow and Sempai Ilias Varas put up a gallant effort to achieve their new ranks. It was tough, but our Sempais proved themselves tougher.

Sempai Ryan Hobbs proved himself to be a worthy Shodan over the last few months and has earned himself his rank convincingly. Sempai Ryan also was very impressive with his performance.

A huge Congratulations go to Sempai Ryan, Sempai Peter and Sempai Ilias !!

We must also congratulate the rest of our members that graded on the same night. It is very pleasing to see our standards maintained. Well done you guys and girl.

Senior Dan Grading PDF Print E-mail

A huge Congratulations to our Sempai Yashani and Sensei Adam (yes, Sensei). They both graded together on Thursday 19th May and they put in a sensational effort into their grading. A lot of hard work had gone into their training over the preceding years. This came to the fore in the standard of their grading. Sempai Yashani Shantha is now ranked Nidan / 2nd Dan. Sensei Adam in now ranked Sandan / 3rd Dan. Yes Sensei Adam has a new title and should be addressed as Sensei at all times.
